ABC Will Be Focusing on the Foreclosures in California

The ABC programme “World News With Charles Gibson” will be focusing on the front lines of foreclosure related woes – California.

California has been recording the highest foreclosure and unemployment numbers. Gibson and his team will pry into the down turn of the economy and how it is telling on the lives of everyday people across the state right from the Inland Empire up to Sacramento. The picture is uneven and not evenly cloudy.

The veteran news anchor, Gibson, said that this is not the best time to come to California. He has a good set up in California abounding with reporters as well as producers. On Oscar Sunday there was a good gathering at the Nascar race and many people talked with the reporters. The team also visited a church in the Inland Empire – a place where it is difficult to find somebody who has not lost either a home or a job.

The team is mulling over plans for reporting on government activities or on Tesla motors. The latter is worth noting. It is a modest firm that has started rolling out electric cars and is now about to introduce a sedan.

Gibson has observed that each recession has acted as a challenge and brought out the best in man. It could be a technological boom or something else. Today the questions are of sustainability and the issue of making America green. In all probability this might lead to the debut of new technology and industry. This will play a vital roll in pulling the country up from the mess and mire.

There is still a great interest among people for news and views. It is only that they are hunting around for it at random and they also want news without having to pay for it. A parallel can be drawn with this and the websites that sell foreclosure posting details. Why should people pay when they are getting it free? The crux of the matter is what type of news one is searching for.

There has been a lot of focusing on the losses incurred by jumbo financial institutions but relatively less has been said about the ordinary man in the streets. There is a surfeit of facts and figures but little about the uncountable pain and agony. Perhaps there will be a change of attitude when this suffering will take on the form of bursting rage.
