Congressperson from California claims she is not delinquent on her repo house. Rep. Laura Richardson speaking to the Long Beach Press-Telegram said, “Everything is currently in order and has been resolved.” Previously it had been reported that she had the highest lease for a car that belonged to the government in the House of Representatives. Her house had temporarily gone into foreclosure but she claimed on Friday that she had paid up all her dues on the house loan.

Laura Richardson (Democrat) is running to be re-elected. She had for some time lost her house in Sacramento to foreclosure earlier this year. Her lender, Washington Mutual sold it in an auction in May but had the sale reversed after Laura Richardson complained that she had not received the foreclosure auction notice on time. She explained that a modified loan arrangement had been worked out with Washington Mutual and the house would be ready to be rented out at the end of this year.

The Congresswoman further elucidated that loans on two of her other houses located at Long Beach and San Pedro had also been modified. But there had been no reduction either of interest or principal. She claimed to be current on her payments for an apartment in Washington D.C. that she had leased. She went on to add that she had lowered the lease on the government car to $774 from $1,299 per month.

Laura Richardson admitted to take responsibility for her “personal mistakes.” Richardson had stepped up the ladder of success within a year from the City Council to becoming a Congresswoman. However the media focused on her when it was reported that a repossessed house of hers had been sold at an auction. This bit of news was followed by revelations that she was defaulting on some other houses. Five defaults took place when she used her own funds ($177,500) to finance her political requirements.

Laura Richardson is the representative of the 37th Congressional District – including parts of Los Angeles (south central), Carson, Compton and the majority of Long Beach area.

The incident round a people’s representative highlights the fact that foreclosures have little respect either for name or fame. Beverly Hills has not been spared and not even the dead in a funeral home in Pontiac! Foreclosures are like heartless robots that grind down anyone who comes in its path.
